About Humminghills.
Situated in the Southern Queensland & Northern New South Wales
Region,
Set
300meters up in the Tweed Hinterland looking west to Mt. Warning
with a northerly aspect and cool sea breezes on 57 acres.
We
started our interest in Alpacas 4 years ago purchasing two
wethers from another local stud and tested the waters (so to
speak) to see if alpacas would do well at our farm, which had
been used for horse breeding and cattle production for many
years.
To our
delight we found that they did well and decided to purchase our
first group of females and a stud Rose Grey male (Bonny Belle
Dan The Man) in 2006. Since then we have put in place our
fencing, laneways, sheds and infrastructure and outsourced
imported Accoyo and Inti genetics to build up our herd. Last
year we showed for the first time with some encouraging results
from our first progeny. (Intermediate Champion & Reserve
Intermediate champion, best of Colour, and with our purchase of
another male, (Ladysmith Aristocrat) best mature male. It
confirmed our research, as to the importance of selecting
quality bloodlines.
Our
stud is in its fledgling years and we have encountered many
challenges, which we have met with enthusiasm, and are grateful to
those other breeders who took us under there wings and guided us
in these few short years.
This
coming season is exciting for 'Humminghills' as it’s the first
time we will have our own animals to introduce for sale to the
public and the industry. We have some quality pregnant females,
and some
superfine gentle young wethers of various colours for sale.
We
remain committed to the continuing improvement of a genuine
quality herd of superior alpacas, sourcing the advancing
improvements made by the industry and helping and encouraging
those who would choose to share our passion.
